Before working out at gym, I stopped by McDonald's to have a decent breakfast with a large cup of coffee. The sky was cloudy and it's a bit drizzling but I didn't really care because I still had one more day to take rest tomorrow, which would be Labor Day.
After jogging on treadmill 30 minutes, biking 20 minutes and weightlifting 150 times, I decided to finish my weekend routine to jog on treadmill 30 minutes more, which I hadn't planned to do but was inspired by a young girl who had kept running for quite a long time. I ended up running at the speed of 8 miles per hour in the last several minutes, which wasn't a piece of cake for an almost 50 years old man.
Yesterday when we came back home from lunch, I actually saw my neighbor Joanne doing work in her front yard, then chatted with her for a while. Just like Dennis had mentioned to me several days ago, she told me that a couple of tall pine trees were cut down by the side of Bellflower Road, the street two blocks away from ours. This had caused some concerns if the windstorms in future would blow through quickly and easily to raise the risks of having the tall pine trees planted in the yards of our neighbors on our next street falling down to our houses. Joanne asked me to go taking a look to get my own observations. Driving through the road, I did see a construction site where trees might be cut down. As a byproduct, I surprisingly found that Bellflower Road is actually a semi-circle road to intersect with North Road twice after driving through it from one end to another. Having lived in this neighborhood since the end of 2009 and in this whole area since 2000, I hadn't known it until today. Driving back to that construction site while avoiding a squirrel crossing the road, I wasn't quite sure if it is where the trees were cut down as Dennis and Joanne referred. Real Estates in our neighborhood become pretty hot, more houses are being built. If those trees were cut down due to this reason, it's not necessarily bad but does raise legitimate safety concerns from our neighbors as I speculated.
After lunch, I started watching Mariners challenging A's in Oakland. Both hadn't scored until 5th Inning. Mariners led by 3 until 7th, A's caught up 1 run, then another. At the bottom 9th inning, the situation became a bit scary when A's had two out but two on. Fortunately, at the end, Mariners' closer ended the game with a win after right outfielder caught the flying ball in his glove.
MLS match of Sunday Crew hosting Dallas kicked off at 4:00pm, I watched the first half from time to time to support US soccer. Dallas led by 1 to halftime, then I switched to Pac-12 to watch UW Huskies Women Soccer Team to host Michigan Wolverines. As I said, my son isn't really a sports fan, he rarely watches matches and games of his school. I, a student athlete when I was a teen and in college, care about college sports much more than him. Both team created several opportunities but kept scoreless until the last minute. Huskies' newly recruited #10 made a wonderful header to win the match.
After watching Pac-12 Final Score, which is a program to have football games highlighted for the week, I decided to watch Titanic on HBO again. I first watched it in the week of its new release in the theater at Northgate Mall, after then, I have watched it several times in the last 17 years but still consider it a great movie worth watching again and again.
There are so many memorable scenes in this movie, one of them caught my eyes and hearts is the last play by the String Quartet right before Titanic sank. Even facing death, we must have the same spirits of these four musicians.
Of course, the most touching scene to me is that Rose let Jack's body sink to the bottom of Atlantic and blew the whistle while swimming to the boat. She survived without wasting Jack's sacrifice. She eventually became a Dawson.
I actually watched last 20 minutes of Huskies' match and Titanic in living room after eating the dinner. After coming back to my bedroom, I just found I had kept TV on Pac-12 channel for 6 hours on smaller LCD for 6 hours. Damnit, this could shorten my TV's life by 6 hours.
