I spent the entire day watching sports on Saturday, so didn't have chance to write my diary.
As you know, I had planned to stay up to catch the first BPL match at 4:45 am in the morning but failed doing it. I had slept in bed until almost 6:30 am. I did catch the moment when Everton scored the third goal against Chelsea, which had such a bad start in this season.
Bundesliga televised match on FSN1 happened to kick off then, I watched the entire one in which Munich hosting Augsburg. Though I supported Munich, the PK given to them towards the end of the match was ridiculous. Were I Muller, I would have kicked it out of the frame. In old days, this could have been ruled as indirect free kick inside 18 yards box, which would have saved lineman's grace and been fair to Augsburg. In this match, Augsburg scored first.
Munich had made quite a lot of efforts before tying the match.
After Bundesliga's match, I switched back to NBCSN and caught the goal City scored after the second effort. It's so sad for Crystal Palace to lose the match in the last 20 seconds.
Before the last BPL match in this morning would kick off at 9:30 on NBC, I switched from channel to channel, it was the 2nd week of college football season, there were many games being televised. Oregon State visiting Michigan was on ABC, this game seemed given a lot of attentions. I learned later Wolverines winning big at the end. Though these two teams were not ranked in this season, this game was profiled highly, probably due to two new coaches and of course Big-Ten & Pac-12 clash.
Back to NBC to keep watching BPL match, I was inspired by Blind's left foot curve ball to score for Manchester United.
At 11:00 am, I switched to Pac-12 to focus on UW Huskies hosting Sacramento State in their first home game at Husky Stadium in this season. I myself am not related to UW but my son has been a proud Husky and will be a sophomore in this autumn. Though he is not a sport fan and rarely watches any sport, I will fully support his school until he graduates. If he is admitted to a PhD program at UW, I may be a die-hard Huskies' fan for another 6 years after 2018. Huskies had been held by the lower division rival not too long before they started scoring massively.
By the end of 1st half, they had led by 4 touchdown and kept the rival scoreless. By then, I decided to start grilling the patties for our first barbecue in this summer, which actually had gone to the end.
As I shared, I bought patties and salmon at Safeway on Friday night. Covered by foil, salmon was put on the top inside the grill; melting cheese on top, patties were grilled with smoke. I could make burgers even better than Big Mac at McDonald's or Double Whopper at Burger King. In addition, I was going to fry the fries on the burner, which might be more delicious than fat fries at Fatburger. These are all subjective.
In addition to burgers and salmon, my son demanded two fried eggs too. While eating, my parents kept praising my BBQ skills. I will buy high quality steaks next week and we will have a big steak-lunch on next Saturday. Oh, I won't forget to buy an expensive bottle of red wine. While grilling, I also approached the sliding door of the house to glance Huskies' game: there wouldn't be any drama in the rest of the 2nd half, they had already led 42 to 0.
After a very satisfied BBQ lunch, I came back to living room to keep watching Huskies' game. Cleaning the grill, I came back to my bedroom to take a nap. However, I woke up just after 20 minutes, then started watching Washington State playing Rutgers in New Jersey. It's a good game, and Cougars won the first game in East Coast for quite a long time as I heard the commentator mentioning ater the game.
Switching to Root Sports, I happened to catch Mariners striking a solo home run:
There was a bunch of interesting college football games being televised in the evening as well. Oregon Ducks at Michigan State Spartans was the highest profile because the former was ranked #8 and latter the #5. I didn't watch the whole game, so still don't know the final score. Let me find a clip on Youtube, which may tell me the final result.
Coming down to the kitchen, I had 3 big bowls of Chinese Cereal my mom cooked. My focus for the night was Sounders challenging Earthquake in San Jose. While watching the match, I heard the beautiful songs being sung by the guests hosted by the neighbor behind Dennis' house. Accompanied music was played by accordion. I wasn't able to tell what language they were singing in. I know Accordion is very popular in Russians. Chinese like it very much as well. However, as I learned, it was invented in Germany. They sounded so excited and I was happy for them.
Sounders had created several opportunities but Earthquake scored first. Sounders tried pretty hard afterwards. Ivanschitz made the immediate impact with his accurate left foot crosses after he was subbed. First, he set up a header made by Neagle ,which was several inches out of the left pole. Secondly, he made a free kick from near bottom to deliver the ball to Scott's head, the ball bounced back after Earthquake Keeper's save, Martine made an acrobatic overhead to tie the match. This team is very promising, and it is ok to make a draw away from home.
