Patrick's Diary - 5/25/2015

I took the opportunity of long weekend to sleep all the morning until lunch.

Before dropping my son back to his dorm, we went to Guitar Center to pick up the guitar first.

Only 3 weeks are left to the end of Spring Quarter, my son probably will have to focus on final exams starting from today. He didn't bring the guitar to his dorm because he already forgets how to play it. However, he planned to practice it when he comes back home during the weekends. Taking the guitar home, I probably should practice it first. I need to buy an instruction from Amazon if I really want to do it. The last time I was trying to play guitar was 30 years ago, though I had still sung a lot until 10 years ago.

Before going to gym to workout, I did want to have a cup of coffee after three days. Getting out of Bothell Exit on 405 South, I turned right instead of left to search in the plaza at left hand side. I couldn't remember if there was a coffee shop there but assumed there must be one because this was the coffee capital, one of the nicknames of Seattle, in addition to Soccer City USA, Rain Capital, etc. I knew I was right when seeing a big Starbucks store next to QFC.

Parking my caravan, I walked into the store. The barista greeted me with smile. There were several customers sitting at the tables, but I was the only one to ordering at the counter.

"Can I have Venti Latte?"I thought I said it clearly.

"What size do you want?" the guy asked me.

I was puzzled but still patiently responded to him while his fingers passed through the different sizes of the cups: "Oh, the largest one."

He did smile and explained: "We have different sizes of cups, that's why I am asking." He sounded implying this might be my first time of ordering coffee at Starbucks.

I wasn't sure if he didn't catch my accent correctly or not, anyway, this happened the first time in the history of my ordering venti latte at Starbucks, though majority of time I ordered Grande Latte.

Yesterday I wrote in my diary that I thought about to stop over at Tully's, which was the most convenient option for me after workout. I have almost always bought coffee at Starbucks because they have so many stores. However, next time, I probably should try Tully's to test out.  Because rarely buying at Tully's, I even forget how they classify the sizes. Anyway, only Italians may judge the correct pronunciation of Venti.

Usually in the afternoon before dinner, gym are crowded but not today. There were only several people there including me. I did extra again: 1 hour on treadmill, 20 minutes on bike, 150 times of weightlifting.

Even before heading out of home, I had told my parents that I would eat dinner outside. After workout, I drove to Taco Bell to eat tacos. Eventually, I ordered Quesdilla.

As I shared that I have been living in this area for 15 years but I have rarely consumed in this side of the bridge over the I-405. I may need to come over more often to experience.

Stopping at 7-11 to pump the gas, I just noticed price has bumped up to $3.1 per gallon. I recall a couple of months ago, it dropped under 2 bucks.

It is still too early to call the day off...oh...I was reconnected with a very good friend with whom I did a lot of businesses when I was young. He lives in Southern California now where his daughter goes to high school. I told him that I would fly over to visit him in September.

Ok, tomorrow will be a busy day...
